Hallam Telstra 5G Mobile Voice

With Essential Communications Services being in the Telecommunications Industry, we see technology change in a heartbeat, from the old original Nextivity Cel-Fi units, through the Cel-Fi Pro era, to the Cel-fi GO 31 and now to the new Cel-fi G51 (5G). This technological progress has only been approximately 10 years, not very long in the scheme of things.

This installation was completed for a service industry client that needed 5G coverage throughout their warehouse and office space. It is a fairly new build, in a growing part of Melbourne’s outer southeast.

For this installation, we mounted an RFI Wideband High Gain Mesh Parabolic Antenna (700-3800MHz) antenna atop the warehouse on a Telco 3m Serviceable Galvanised Hinged Mast. The RFI antenna is fitted with a 4.3-10 DIN Male adaptor so, to ensure that we were able to run the required LDF4-50A Coaxial Cable fitted with N Male plugs, to carry the 5G signal over the distance from the antenna to the server room, we installed a 4.3-10 Female to N Female adaptor to a Polyphase Inline N Male to N Female Lightning Arrestor.

Once the antenna was fully mounted, Essential Communications Services penetrated through the roofing material to drop the LDF4-50A Coaxial Cable down to the server room where the Nextivity Cel-fi G51 unit was to be mounted. Before leaving the roof, our technician ensured that all roof penetrations were fully waterproofed.

As this is a two-story office, we had to install an RFI Two Way N Splitter to be able to run two LCU400 Coaxial Cables back through the wall to distribute the mobile signal to the RFI Omni Directional Ceiling Mounted DAS units, one in the upstairs office space and one in the downstairs office space.

Due to the nature of the client, the wall cavities were full of fire-rated insulation so any cabling that had to be run inside the walls was difficult to install.

Once everything was mounted, we ran the usual tests to ensure that coverage was penetrating throughout the areas needed. After which we were able to seal up the cable penetration with fireproof expanda foam sealant.
