With most installations, we are within a few kilometers of a town, at most 50km away, but with this installation, a seven kilometer driveway took an hour to drive due to the mountainous terrain. This is where Essential Communications Services came in. Solving communications problems is our specialty.
This client, a specialty high altitude nursery, needed to be able to connect to their suppliers and customers via email and telephone, but again, due to the mountainous terrain, finding signal was difficult. A ten minute walk from the home site to where signal was usable was not uncommon.
Our solution was to provide a Telco Antennas 15m Aluminum Lattice Mast with a three sector mast head. Atop the mast head we installed 1 x Telco XPOL MIMO 3G+4GX High Gain Panel Antenna – 700-900 MHz, 1 x RFI Next-G+4GX 15dBi Yagi Antenna – 700-850MHz, 1 x ZCG Scalar 12dBi 477MHz UHF Base Station Antenna and an AM Loop Antenna on a Channel Master Rotator.
Due to the patchy signal in this area all cable runs were Andrews LDF4-50A Heliax co-axial cable.
The XPOL High Gain Panel antenna is cabled down to a Teltonika RUT950 Modem/Router as at the time of this installation the Telco T1 and Telco X1 were not available. The 15dBi Yagi Antenna is cabled to a Cel-Fi Go by Nextivity with the signal being broadcast by a RFI Technology Solutions Low PIM DAS Omni directional Ceiling Antenna – 698-960MHz & 1710-6000Mhz.
The ZCG Scalar 12dBi UHF Base Station antenna is cabled to an ICOM IC410PRO and the AM Loop antenna is cabled to a Sangean PR-D7-MK-II AM/FM Long Range/Outback Portable Mains / Rechargeable Battery Radio. AM/FM radio signal is also very patchy in this area of the Barrington Ranges.
Essential Communications Services also installed a VAST Satellite television service at the premises as terrestrial television signal is also not receivable in this area. VAST is Viewer Access Satellite Television. This service brings SBS, ABC, 7, 9 and 10 as well as all their affiliate television and radio services to rural and remote homes and businesses.
The mast, mobile broadband and mobile voice communications infrastructure for this installation was supplied by our ever wonderful suppliers Telco Antennas.
The loop antenna and radio were supplied by PK Loops. The ICOM UHF radio was supplied by Radio Parts and the VAST equipment was supplied by SatPlus.
